How to improve your body immunity ..

Dr. Eapen Koshy, FRCS
Great talk by Dr. Eapen Koshy MBBS, MS (CMC Vellore), FRCS ..

The most important threat mankind faces now is lower body immunity. People are falling o like chicken acrposs the wold, especially in US an EEurope. It is not that these countries have very low health standards. These are great counties that have a history of a couple of centuries in leading allopathic western medicine. Why have they terribly failed in this instance ?

Dr. Ninan Koshy firmly believes after his 30 years plus experience in treating patients across the world, it is lack of immunity. Immunity is the natual ability of our body to fight off attacks by pathogens on our body.

How to raise our body immunity to counter any viral attack, present and into the future ..

1. Avoid sugar and sugary food and drinks
2. Avoid animal milk
3. Maintain circadian rhythm of life - go to sleep early and get up early
4. Have intermittent fasting, at least once a week
5. Have an alkaline diet of vegetables, fruits, nuts etc ..
6. Have the super food Spirulina in your diet ..
7. Have fresh intake of ginger, lemon, garlic and turmeric in your diet for raising your body immunity
8. Do not overcook food

When will this Covid pandemic end ?

The real pandemic starts the day lockdown ends.

The coronavirus is a crisis of math.

The coronavirus is an easy problem to solve…if we understood exponentials.

Unfortunately, the human mind is incapable of grasping exponentials. We cannot intuitively perceive how a small number can grow so large in such a small amount of time.

An Indian parable is relevant at this point.
A king wanted to reward the inventor of chess and asked him to name his prize. “I want you to fill up the entire chess board with wheat. One grain of wheat on the first square, 2 grains on the next square, double that on the next square for 4 grains, 8, 16, 32 and thus fill up the entire chess board,“ said the inventor.

At first, the king was offended, and thought his paltry request was a joke, but the inventor of chess was serious. So, the king told his servants to fill up the chess board. The servants came back and told the king that it couldn’t be done. They had used up the entire wheat stock of the kingdom. There was no more left to continue to fill the chess board. Just the last square alone on the board would require 9 trillion grains of wheat.
Just like the king in this story, every world leader has been fooled by a small number of coronavirus cases and the power of exponential growth.

We are accusing China for hiding the exact number of cases. But the important aspect is that 80,000 cases in two months should have been enough for us to wake up to the scary reality of this exponential growth. Despite seeing the data, the world leaders did nothing.

Some basic math around the virus:

Starting from the first locally transmitted case in the US on February 26, 15 cases have grown to ~460,000 cases (April 9th) in only 6 weeks, in spite of lockdown measures being taken all over the country. On April 8, there were 31,000 new cases. Yesterday, there were 34,000 more new cases. And today, there will be even more.

There is no current indicator that the virus’s exponential growth will stop. Our current lockdown measures have slowed the rate of this exponential growth. But due to the nature of exponents, decreasing the rate of exponential growth still leaves you growing exponentially, and only marginally slower.

Exponential growth can only stop if there are no more people left for the virus to infect in its environment.

There is a ~1% mortality rate for the virus in the best circumstances. Assuming our health care system can handle the influx of new cases (flatten the curve), if every US citizen got coronavirus, ~3 million people would die.

Stopping exponential growth without infecting the full population requires cutting off the supply of healthy individuals that can be infected.

The incubation period of the virus is ~14 days. If everyone is in complete isolation for 4–6 weeks, the virus will disappear. Complete isolation means no going out for any reason at all. No walks, no groceries, no “essential” businesses. This has been proven successful in China.

This is effective because those within a household where no one is infected will have no means of contracting the virus without outside contact. For an individual who may have the virus, they will only be able to pass it to those quarantined with them, with 4–6 weeks as enough time for the virus to pass through the whole household. Those who end up at the hospital would only return to their homes once they are cleared of the virus.

We have two choices:

Everyone in the world gets the virus, so that it can no longer spread. The body count would be horrific.

The whole world synchronously goes into a complete lockdown for 4–6 weeks. The effects on the global economy would be horrific.

Every nation is eagerly awaiting to lift its lockdown as soon as there are fewer cases. But when 15 cases become 460,000 in 6 weeks, how is it ok to lift a lockdown when we are down to, say, “only 100 new cases” in a given day? Once again, our human mind is incapable of thinking in exponentials. We will not have learned from history — a history that occurred just two months ago.

The real pandemic will start the day we start lifting the lockdown.

Every country or state has announced a date at which lockdown will be lifted. They should instead declare that they will lift the lockdown the day the number of new cases has been zero for the past two weeks. Period.
We are setting ourselves up for a cycle of partial lockdown for weeks, followed by a lift, then a lock down again when the spread picks up — over and over again, for the better part of the year, at best. In the process, we will lose millions of lives, as well as our economies.

If we take a hit of some percentage loss in the world GDP by locking down the entire world synchronously, we could save millions of lives. Or we do nothing and millions get killed with a loss in GDP anyway.

The reality is that we will lose lives as well as the economy — just because we didn’t bother to understand the math.

We have a choice to make: do we want to throw money at the problem, or throw bodies at the problem?

Where did we go wrong ,??

*Wonderful write up by Vivienne in Spain*

The earth whispered but you did not hear.

The earth spoke but you did not listen

The earth screamed but you turned her off.

And so I was born...I was not born to punish you...I was born to awaken you...

The earth cried out for help...Massive flooding..But you didn't listen.

Burning fires. But you didn't listen.

Strong hurricanes. But you didn't listen.

Terrifying Tornadoes. But you didn't listen.

You still don't listen to the earth when.

Ocean animals are dying due to pollutants in the waters.

Glaciers melting at an alarming rate.

Severe drought...You didn't listen to how much negativity the earth is receiving.

Non-stop wars.

Non-stop greed.

You just kept going on with your life..

No matter how much hate there was..

No matter how many killings daily..

It was more important to get that latest iPhone than worry about what the earth was trying to tell you..

But now I am here.

And I've made the world stop in its tracks.

I've made YOU finally listen.

I've made you take refuge.

I've made you stop thinking about materialistic things..

Now you are like the earth...

You are only worried about YOUR survival.

How does that feel ?

I give you fever.. as the fires burn on earth.

I give you respiratory issues.. as pollution filled  the earth’s air.

I give you weakness as the earth weakens every day.

I took away your comforts..

Your outings.

The things you would use to forget about the planet and its pain.

And I made the world stop..

And now...

China has better air quality...Skys are clear blue because factories are not spewing pollution unto the earth's air.

The water in Venice is clean and Because the gondola boats that pollute the water are not being used.

YOU are having to take time to reflect on what is important in your life.

Again I am not here to punish you.. I am here to Awaken you..

*When all this is over and I am gone... Please remember these moments..*

Listen to the earth.

Listen to your soul.

Stop Polluting the earth.

Stop Fighting amongst each other.

Stop caring about materialistic things.

And start loving your neighbours.

Start caring about the earth and all its creatures.

Start believing in a Creator.

Because next time I may come back even stronger...

Signed

Yours faithfully

*Coronavirus..*

And next time don't know how long you will survive.

Online Class discussion on Agri Supply Chains ..

Yesterday had a 60 minutes case discussion last night using a web collaboration tool. The case discussion  did not happen inside the classroom. It was a country wide classroom case discussion. The participants spanned across the country from Meghalaya to Maharashtra and Punjab to Kerala.

The participants were my students spread across India from Meghalaya to Mumbai, Delhi to Truvandrum on the, Agricultural supply chain challenges across the country and beyond,  during these Covid times..

The discussions started on a sober note at 8 pm. We had a bit of pandemonium in between with about 23 students attending the discussion. The main purpose of the discussion was to sensitize the student community on the challenges faced by the agricultural supply chains across the country during these Covid times ..

While some students were of the view that the all important agri supply chains in the country were operating without any stresses, others were of the view that there were challenges. The supplies were actually depleting the safety stocks to supply to organized retail chains like Reliance Fresh (Ambani), Star bazar (Tatas) and More supermarkets (Birlas) and others.

Only these stores are open these days helping the common man. Mom and pop corner stores, frequently run out of stock as replenishments are not reliable because of the transportation lock down. Organized retail accounts for just 10% of India's total retail trade of $60 billion.

In Andhra, the govt has ensured that there are shops selling provisions and vegetables every 2 km distance across the state.

In North East which has not yet seen a Corona death, situation is more relaxed, though they are taking precautions, practicing social distancing and self quarantine for foreign travelers..

Also in remote Jharkhand or Assam, the situation is same, tense yet relaxed. In Assam, except for rice, dal and aloo, other estables are really difficult to procure and stock. Police are trying their level best to avoid prople crowding at public places, malls, supermarkets etc ..

Really, this is a great case study in effective leadership.  Kerala public never thought Pinarayi would emerge as a good leader even surpassing Modi in arranging fast  effective responses, motivating lakhs of volunteers across the state irrespective of party affiliations.. 👍👍👍
